Real Estate

Real estate may be considered the most ideal, but most underutilized, way of supporting the Preservation Society while also providing for the needs of a donor. Donors may give almost any type of real estate directly to the Preservation Society including a vacation home, farm, commercial building or undeveloped parcel of land. Or, they may decide to donate a primary residence, retaining the right to live in the house for the remainder of their lives. Properly structured, a gift of real estate can provide income and capital gains relief, and substantially reduce estate taxes. Real property also can be used to fund life income arrangements such as a charitable trust.
