Lunch at The Elms Carriage House Cafe and Garden Shop
A delicious and nutritious assortment of snacks, beverages, fresh salads and sandwiches is available seasonally at The Elms Carriage House Cafe. Located on the terrace of the historic carriage house at The Elms, the Cafe offers umbrella-shaded bistro tables, overlooking the grand allee, fountains and sunken garden.
The Carriage House Cafe is open to Preservation Society members and Newport Mansions ticket holders from 10 am to 4 pm (lunch served at 11 am) on the following schedule:
May 17 to June 1, weekends and holidays
June 1 to September 21, daily
September 27 to October 13, weekends and holidays
 New this year, we've added a Garden Shop adjacent to the Cafe, where you'll find books, gardening tools, outdoor statuary, plants and much more.

More Tour Options
For the most intimate experience, choose a private tour for your party through one or more houses of your choosing. Private tour fees start at $220, and include membership. To arrange a private tour, call (401) 847-1000, ext 105.
In addition to the regular house tours, there are also several special tours available to satisfy every visitor's taste, listed below. Please note, some tours are seasonal. Please check the Operating Schedule or tickets page for availability and prices.
The Elms After Hours Treat yourself to a Gilded Age summer party. It's After Hours at The Elms, a unique opportunity to discover what it might have been like to enjoy a summer cocktail party at this elegant Gilded Age mansion.
Begin your Friday evening in Newport with a leisurely guided tour of the first floor of The Elms. Follow that with wine and canapes served on the terrace overlooking the grounds, and then take in the evening air as you and your guide stroll through the spectacular sunken garden. Offered Friday evenings only, June 27 through August 29. See and hear how the other half lived as you tour the "back stairs" and rooftop of this Gilded Age mansion. Walk through the kitchens, coal cellar and boiler room, laundry rooms and wine cellar, then up the stairs to the third-floor staff quarters. Weather permitting, your tour will take you out onto the roof, for a spectacular view of the ten-acre estate and Newport harbor beyond.

The Breakers Family Tour This special, interactive tour of The Breakers is designed to engage children in learning about this great house and the people who lived in it. Children are encouraged to ask questions, and learn about the daily lives of the Vanderbilt children and how they spent their summers in this opulent "cottage."
Offered daily June 28 through September 1, weekdays at 2 pm, weekends at 11 am and 2 pm. Admission with regular Breakers ticket. Purchase tickets now.
