series of workshops and lectures was developed to assist homeowners, contractors, craftsmen and conservators in the preservation and restoration of historic buildings and properties.
On these pages, you'll find summaries of the workshop sessions and sources of additional information to assist you in preserving your historic house.
This series was made possible through our partnerships with many institutions. The Institute of Museums and Library Services, a federal agency that fosters innovation, leadership and a lifetime of learning provided a grant to aid in the development of this program. The Preservation Society of Newport County has also worked with the following organizations to create this diverse educational opportunity: The Newport Restoration Foundation , Preserve Rhode Island, GrowSmart RI, and the Church Community Housing Corporation.
Advice on how to repair, restore and maintain the rooms in your historic house, whether it be an 18th century building, a Victorian cottage, or a 1930s bungalow.
How do you recreate a period landscape that complements your house?
